TV App Agency launches Olympics service for RTVE

Spanish public broadcaster RTVE has launched an Olympics connected TV app built by UK-based developers TV App Agency.

The app, which is available via Samsung devices in Spain, features 12 live streams and a raft of on-demand content. It also allows users to connect with their social media accounts to post updates via their TV.

The RTVE Olympics app is available for free and was ordered and developed in less than three weeks.

It follows an existing connected TV catch-up service TV App Agency has developed for RTVE, as well as the separate LigaBBVA app, which offers a range of video and information about Spanish football league La Liga.

TV App Agency director Andy Eardley said connected TVs were the best medium for viewing sport. “A TV is the ultimate shared device for watching videos and viewing large images from the comfort of the living room, rather than hunched over a 15” laptop,” he said.

Absolute Radio, which has launched a connected TV app controlled via mobile, and Scripps Network’s Food Network are among TV App Agency’s UK clients.
